| Synopsis: |
After his sister dies from AIDS in Nigeria, Ibrahim, a Nigerian, and his wife, Lily, an American, decide to raise her son, Yakubu, in New York City. Due to the pain of losing his mother and being uprooted from the only place he calls home, Yakubu chooses to speak only in Hausa (a northern Nigerian language) even though he can speak English fluently and alienates Lily in the process. Now Ibrahim and Lily must try to find a way to make a new home for Yakubu and Lily must try to find a way to get Yakubu to let her in. |
